(SkyTab) Digital Scales connect with the Shift4 Dine Workstation to handle items sold by weight directly in the POS workflow. Staff can weigh configured products, apply price-per-pound settings, and use tare weight so the system calculates the item price from the net weight.
(SkyTab) Digital Scales integrate weight-based item sales directly with the Shift4 Dine POS workflow. Instead of weighing a product on one device and manually entering the result into the register, staff can use a connected scale with the Workstation so the measured weight becomes part of the order. This is particularly useful for delis, markets, seafood counters, cafés, specialty food shops, and restaurant concepts that sell products by weight alongside regular menu items.
The Shift4 Dine scale integration allows individual menu items to be configured as sold by weight. A restaurant can set the price per pound for an item, then place the product on the scale when it is added to a ticket. The Workstation reads the weight and uses it to calculate the appropriate item price. For products sold in trays, containers, baskets, or other packaging, tare weight can also be stored so the customer is charged for the product itself rather than the container.
Current Shift4 Dine documentation identifies the CAS PD-II as the supported and verified digital scale for U.S. merchants using pounds and ounces. The scale connects to the Workstation hardware and is enabled through the POS hardware settings. Once configured, weighted items remain part of the same order-entry process as the rest of the restaurant menu instead of requiring a separate weighing and pricing workflow. The final net weight and price can also appear with the order information and on the customer receipt.
For businesses that regularly sell food or merchandise by weight, (SkyTab) Digital Scales provide a practical connection between physical weighing and restaurant point-of-sale processing. The integration helps staff handle weighted items inside the same Shift4 Dine environment used for menu management, tickets, pricing, and checkout. Rather than functioning as a separate POS system, the digital scale works as a connected restaurant hardware accessory that supplies accurate weight information to the Workstation when a weight-based item is sold.
