About the Tablet (SkyTab Glass)

Tablet (SkyTab Glass) is a mobile restaurant POS tablet designed for tableside ordering and service away from a fixed workstation. The 8-inch Android touchscreen gives staff more working space than a compact handheld while remaining portable enough to move through dining rooms, patios, rooftops, bars, and other service areas. Connected to the Shift4 Dine environment over Wi-Fi, the tablet gives restaurant staff access to the POS workflow where the guest interaction is actually taking place.

For servers, the Shift4 Dine Tablet provides a practical way to handle order-taking without repeatedly returning to the main POS station. Staff can enter and update orders, work with checks, respond to guest requests, and continue the service workflow from the floor. The current Shift4 Dine Tablet setup also supports an onboard payment reader, allowing supported payments to be handled from the same mobile device. This makes the tablet useful for full-service restaurants, bars, cafés, hospitality venues, and operations with outdoor or dispersed seating where a fixed terminal may not always be convenient.

Unlike traditional order-taking that depends on handwritten notes or repeated trips between the table and a workstation, a mobile POS tablet keeps order information inside the restaurant’s digital workflow from the start. The device can also be assigned to a receipt printer within Shift4 Dine, helping it remain connected to the broader front-of-house setup rather than functioning as a standalone tablet. Orders, checks, payments, and related restaurant tasks stay within the same POS environment used by the rest of the team.

Customer service in general is very caring and professional. The system is easy to operate with. The online gift cards purchase isn’t user friendly, called service team several times, not so much improvement has been made. Hopefully in the future they may solve the problem.

It has all of the modern equipment and convenience features we wanted at a better price point than most others out there. The 3 restaurants are all different so it’s nice to be able customize the set up to fit each one’s unique needs. Very user friendly interface on POS, handhelds, and back office log in. We like accepting Apple Pay and Online Orders directly through the system. The POS itself is very easy to use. The guys at Harbortouch POS of Boston showed us great support since the installation.
