About the Kitchen Display System (SkyTab)
(SkyTab) Kitchen Display Screen is a restaurant kitchen display system designed to move order information from the front of house into the kitchen without relying only on printed tickets. Orders sent through Shift4 Dine can appear on the appropriate KDS station with the items, modifiers, ticket details, and timing information kitchen staff need to prepare them. This gives cooks and expo staff a live view of active orders and keeps the kitchen workflow connected to the same POS environment used by the front-of-house team.
The Shift4 Dine Kitchen Display System can be configured around the way an individual kitchen operates. Restaurants can assign menu items and modifiers to specific KDS stations, filter tickets by order type, change ticket views, group items and modifiers, and use separate prep and expo workflows. Prep times can also be configured for individual menu items and modifiers, allowing the system to control when items appear on kitchen screens and helping different parts of an order finish closer together.
For busy restaurant kitchens, a KDS also gives staff more control over active tickets than a static paper queue. Teams can recall tickets, use rush or expedite functions, monitor ticket timers, work with split views, and manage multi-stage fulfillment where the restaurant workflow requires it. Shift4 Dine also provides a Kitchen Box Score view for checking the overall performance of kitchen stations, giving managers another way to understand how orders are moving through the back of house.
Unlike a traditional kitchen printer that produces a physical ticket and leaves the rest of the process to staff, (SkyTab) Kitchen Display Screen keeps order status and kitchen activity visible on screen throughout the preparation workflow. It can work alongside kitchen printers rather than necessarily replacing them, depending on the restaurant setup. For full-service restaurants, quick-service concepts, pizzerias, bars, and other operations managing multiple orders at once, the restaurant KDS provides a practical way to organize tickets, route preparation work, and keep front-of-house orders connected with back-of-house production.
